About Jesse
Jesse Borosky was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and raised in the small town of Scott Township. Prior to moving from Pennsylvania, Jesse completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Psychology at Marywood University. During this time, he had worked on adolescent inpatient psychiatric units as well as working maintenance at his local church. Following this, he worked as a mobile therapist in a community-based setting, and later as a mental health professional based in Scranton High School, before eventually being accepted to WSU’s doctoral program.
Jesse is currently a student in Wichita State University’s Clinical-Community Psychology PhD program. Jesse’s particular interests are modern treatments for children and adolescents with mental health disorders and applying these treatments in settings such as schools and hospitals. Jesse has a long history of working with children and adolescents in various mental health and school-based settings.
As a student at WSU, Jesse has continued to gain direct experience working with the children and families of Sedgwick county. Jesse is currently a practicum student at KU School of Medicine’s Wichita office, working with children with various diagnoses and their parents. This position also allows Jesse to provide consultation work at Wesley Children’s Hospital, assessing the risk of young patients experiencing serious mental distress. Jesse also works as a counselor in a behavioral program held in the Haysville School District, teaching children appropriate social skills and reinforcing positive behaviors.
Jesse’s academic and clinical work has given him a strong understanding of children’s and teen’s development, as well as an understanding of their emotional and psychological needs. Jesse’s training has taught him the importance of scientifically sound and evidence-based approaches to working with children and adolescents. This makes Jesse a strong, well-informed candidate for the Wichita Public Schools’ Board of Education.
During his free time, Jesse enjoys writing and listening to music, working out, doing yoga, attending the First Unitarian Universalist Church, and raising stray cats with his fiancée. As a resident of Wichita, Jesse contributes to the community by supporting local businesses and limiting waste production. Jesse is politically active both in the community and on campus. Jesse’s interactions with community members have inspired him to run for Board of Education, hoping to make a meaningful impact.
